We offer cuts, color, facials & cosmetic tattoos. We are fun to be with, super talented pros who listen really well. In fact, providing personalized, inclusive, neuro-aware, lgbtq+ friendly & gender affirming care is kind of our "thing". We just really want to be sure that everyone who walks into buttercup feels heard and valued...and of course gets the cut, color, facial or tattoo of their dreams!


If you are down with a whimsical aesthetic, yummy snacks, chill vibes, cute dogs and mad skills, you're gonna love it here. If you are queer, neurocomplex or have salon trauma, you're gonna feel safe, PLUS love it here. We gotchu.

Why no tipping?
A few reasons...
1. Tipping has a racist history and that gives us the ick. 
2. Not having to do math after your appointment is underrated. 
3. It's on the owner to compensate her employees fully, fairly & consistently.
Can i bring my dog?
Yes! Mostly. We want you to feel super comfy while you're here and for everyone's comfort, we can only welcome well behaved, non aggressive dogs. No cats because we sneeze.
Why hourly pricing?
Hourly pricing means that we can build a custom appointment for you with no surprises. We create an appointment together that considers your desired results, condition of your hair/skin, as well as your time & money budget. Your grand total is fully transparent when you book.
Do you offer services for different hair types?
Yes! We have experience and training working with lots of hair types, including various afro textures, tight coils, densities and porosities. Additionally, we respect the deep cultural signifigance of hair in the black community and hope everyone who comes to buttercup feels seen, welcome, safe and confident putting their hair in our care. Feel free to contact us with any questions about your specific hair needs or book a free consultation.
What's up with this deposit thing?
We require a 50% deposit to book.
Here's why: your deposit saves your spot and makes sure our team gets paid for their time in the case of no-shows & late cancellations.
What if I need to reschedule?
Deposits are non-refundable, but generally transferable for reschedules. Life happens and we can usually work with you.
Can I get a consultation before my haircut, color, facial or cosmetic tattoo?
Absolutely! We get this is serious stuff and we want you to feel comfy trusting us with your hair or face. We are happy to answer your questions and listen carefully to what you want and how you want to feel.
Is your salon LGBTQ+ friendly?
Big yes! Buttercup is an LGBTQ+ inclusive (and owned) salon and we welcome everyone with open arms. We've prioritized creating a safe and comfortable space for all our clients. We offer a non gendered menu as well as gender affirming cuts, color & cosmetic tattooing.
